Wildcats Capture the Mustangs in Playoffs
10/30/2015 - The Wildcats advanced 38-17 in the D3 Southwest Sectional tournament Friday behind its defense and special teams which caused four turnovers. The punt return team scored first after stopping Norwood on their opening drive. Patrick O'Connor blocked the punt and Zack Fischer returned it 32 yards for 6 points.
Our defense was on the field almost the whole first half as we only ran nine offensive plays. Kendall Van Allen ended Norwood's second drive with a beautiful interception that he returned 53, before fumbling the ball back when he was tackled. Akeem Smith's tackle for loss on 4th & 1 ended Norwood's third possession and we finally had the ball. It took us 6 plays before Van Allen raced 57 yards down the sideline with a pass from Mike Fallon to put us up 12-0.
Too Norwood's credit they didn't quit and put together a TD drive and capitalized on our only offensive turnover to cut the lead to 12-10 with a 37 field goal as time expired in the half.
In the third quarter, Devon Nzepoume caused a fumble that Smith recovered and Fallon connected with Van Allen from 19 yards out to build the lead. Joe Quinn collected his team leading 4th interception late and the third period and Koby Osazee broke the game open on the first play of the 4th quarter when he raced 36 yards for TD. Osazee's 2 point rush lifted us to 26-10. The action didn't stop and Nzepoume intercepted another pass which led to Van Allen's third touchdown reception. Our lead was now, 32-10 and we were rolling. We traded scores late in the game. Fallon raced in 16 yards to account for our final score.
This week we play Stoughton who advanced by beating Walpole 21-20. The game is at Brooks Field Friday November 6th, 7pm.

Milton Wins Herget League Title10/24/2015 - The Milton Wildcats rallied in the second half behind super defense and timely offense to win it's first Bay State League Title since 1963 on Saturday in Wellesley.
The Red Raiders were also undefeated and now head into the D2 South playoffs as the 2 seed. The Wildcats are the 1 seed in D3 Southwest and will host Norwood Friday night at Brooks Field. The game was a battle of field position and featured the two best defenses in the league. Wellesley scored first in the second quarter to break a scoreless tie. Their drive started at our 39 yard line and was aided by penalty which didn't help us. They cashed it in when their QB Jake Mohan raced around right end for a 6 yard score. The extra point was partially blocked but still went over the bar for 7-0 lead. We responded with a beautiful two-minute drill that left us at the one yard line with 14 seconds left and no time outs. We failed to score on both a pass and a run and we to the break trailing by 7. We received the 2nd half kick off and drove 60 yards to pay dirt. We mixed the pass and the run well and Fallon converted a 4th down rushing before Mac Feeney scored on a 7 yard run. Our 2 point try failed, 7-6 Wellesley. Our defense was really cooking now which helped us start our next three drives with excellent field position. It took 3 drives and a huge 4th down conversion pass from Fallon to Derek Perkins but we scored with 1:21 left in the game. Fallon found David Perkins on a go route from 22 yards out and after Feeney rushed for the conversion, we led 14-7. Our Defense gave a little bit but on 4th and ten form our 30 Wellesley's last pass was intercepted by Derek Perkins. Mission One Accomplished! |

Defense leads Wildcats over Natick
|
10/2/2015 - The Wildcats survived a scare from Natick Friday night in large part to tremendous defensive effort. The Cats completely stopped the Natick ground game and applied great pressure on the quarterback all night. The pressure caused two interceptions, both collected by senior Joe Quinn and kept Natick from scoring an offensive touchdown.
The offense started quickly as Mike Fallon found Derek Perkins on a 44 yard post pattern on our first drive. The conversion pass failed and we led 6-0. While the defense continued to force stops our offense failed on several chances to add points in the first half and we went to halftime up 6-0. The third quarter started poorly when we were pin deep in our own end and failed to move the ball. Our punt was blocked and Natick recovered in our own end zone for a touchdown. They hit the PAT and we trailed 7-6. Finally early in the forth quarter the offense, setup at the 45 yard line, thanks to Quinn's second interception, put together a nice drive. Koby Osazee rushed in from 12 yards out and Derek Perkins added the conversion to put us up 14-7. The defense continued to stuff Natick and the offense pounded the ball on the ground behind Osazee and Mack Feeney to shorten the game and collect the win. |
